We're Finley and Landon, co-presidents (and twins) of Unplugged Dinner Club. We are glad you found our site and look forward to you joining our growing community.
Unplugged Dinner Club was founded to help teens like us connect with one another with face-to-face interaction, and remember the importance of focusing on the moment -- and each other -- by unplugging and putting down our phones and devices.
A typical get together is a meal where we all take our phones and place them face down in the middle of the table. We all agree not to look at them until we leave. This allows us to truly engage with each other without distraction. Our group members report feeling energized and excited after our events.
Unplugged Dinner Club is a social club that brings teens together for face-to-face conversations over a meal. We encourage members to disconnect from their electronic devices and engage in meaningful, unplugged interactions with one another. Our mission is to create a sense of community and connection in a world increasingly dominated by technology.
1. Invite your friends to dinner;
2. Place phones/devices in the middle of the table -- screens down -- or in a bag;
3. Have dinner in an unplugged environment free from digital distractions, and enjoy face-to-face conversation.
Unplugged Dinner Club was founded following the COVID pandemic when we were all forced to go to school online, and lost out on the ability to make in-person connections with our friends. Once things normalized, we realized it was important to focus on the moment, connect again in person -- and most importantly, disconnect from tech and other distractions while doing so.
We love to meet fellow high-school students who are interested in unplugging from their electronic devices and interacting with others over a nice meal.
